When you get home
When you come home from the hospital, a huge responsibility rests on your shoulders. Many new parents have never held an infant before and are therefore not always prepared for the task. There are many questions, and they keep coming up. These days, mothers and babies are sent home the very same day the baby is born. It can feel overwhelming to come home, tired after a difficult birth and with a newborn whose milk hasn’t come in yet. This is where Private Health can step in and help you with everything you might need—for example, help with latching your newborn and establishing breastfeeding, as well as instruction in postpartum care.

Prices for a private maternity nurse
Nurses
- Weekday daily rate (8:00 a.m. to midnight): DKK 675 per hour
- Weekday nighttime rate (12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.): 745 DKK per hour
- Weekend daytime rate (8:00 a.m. to midnight): DKK 795 per hour*
- Weekend nighttime rate (12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.): DKK 895 per hour*
- Holiday Rate (12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.): DKK 1,150 per hour**
- Holiday rate on December 24 (from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day): 1,350 / hour**
- Holiday Rate on 12/31 (from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day): 1,350 / hour**
- The minimum shift length for nurses is 3 hours during the day and 8 hours at night (midnight–8 a.m.).
*The weekend rate applies from Friday at 4:00 p.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m.
**The holiday rate applies from 12:00 a.m. on the holiday until 8:00 a.m. on the following business day**
The holidays are as follows:
- New Year's Day (January 1)
- Maundy Thursday
- Good Friday
- Easter Sunday
- Easter Monday
- Ascension Day, Pentecost
- 2. Pentecost
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve (December 31).
Contributions from insurance and pension companies
We encourage clients, in special cases, to explore the possibility of receiving financial assistance from Sygesikring Danmark, insurance and pension companies, or other related health insurance providers.
In this regard, Private Health would like to note that Sygesikring Danmark provides a payment of approximately 12,000 DKK in cases of end-of-life care. To receive this benefit, various medical certificates from a doctor or hospital must be obtained. Private Health is happy to assist in obtaining these. In all cases, we recommend that clients and/or their relatives contact the relevant organizations directly for further information.

24-Hour Care
Maternity nurses from Private Health can move in with you if needed and be with you day and night during the early days. Depending on how many days or weeks you need help and support, you’ll be assigned a dedicated team of 2–4 nurses.
If you contact us before your due date, we can work together to put together a team that’s the best fit for your little family. Of course, we’re also available on short notice if, after returning home from the maternity ward, you find that things are getting overwhelming and you need support and help from caring and experienced postpartum nurses.
