Private dementia care

No matter how much we humans strive to fend for ourselves in every life situation, we cannot change the fact that we are dependent on each other. Especially during the periods of our lives when we are faced with health challenges.

Dementia care

At Private Health, one of our core beliefs is that all people matter equally. With or without dementia. Supporting a family living with dementia and being a part of their everyday life requires trust. And not least, that we put ourselves in the shoes of our client with dementia. We believe that being able to put yourself in another person's shoes is the starting point for providing professional care and private nursing.

We believe that caring is a big part of the road to recovery and happiness for our clients. At Private Health, we know from experience that if our focus is on strengthening and supporting the existing skills of the person with dementia, we will in this way stimulate their senses, which in turn creates peace for the whole family.

At Private Health, we believe that care, presence and physical activity from experienced nurses for people with dementia increases the quality and enjoyment of life. We believe that care is the best medicine.

When caring is the best medicine

At Private Health, we lean on the Dagmarsminde model and know that it is crucial that our nurses constantly think creatively when supporting a person with dementia to have a better and more meaningful everyday life. We know that the road to this is paved with physical training, mental training, patience, consistency, repetition and routines. Including a stimulating approach that can motivate the person with dementia to perform practical everyday tasks. And there are always real tasks that have real meaning for a person with dementia.

Our nurses have a caring and attentive approach and are constantly looking for ways to do things better so that our clients with dementia become even more satisfied with life, gain more self-confidence, do more things for themselves and achieve a greater sense of quality of life. Private Health provides care and supports our clients on their path to a better life.

Everyday life without medicine

Sedatives have the effect of making you not care about anything. Life becomes meaningless and many people find that their family member with dementia becomes confused, aggressive, frustrated and agitated. This often leads to the prescription of antipsychotics, which have side effects such as musculoskeletal disturbances and dizziness. In addition, some sleeping medication that makes the person with dementia sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Medication combined with a lack of meaningful activities disrupts the circadian rhythm.

Without medication, many people find that their family member with dementia becomes 'themselves' again with all the natural reactions that come with this condition. Their experiences become coherent, which creates a foundation for us as professionals to help the client develop and regain skills.

Get off the medication

With a so-called de-medication in collaboration with the doctor responsible for treatment, we often find that the person with dementia regains their appetite for life and hunger. This creates better conditions for the nurse to sharpen all the senses of the person with dementia. For example, with fragrant and pleasant care, shared breakfast and cooking.

This, along with meaningful activities during the day that fit in with the life the person with dementia has lived so far. Movement, gymnastics, word games, training with numbers, walks, reading and conversations. After some time of working purposefully and skillfully with a focus on sharpening the senses, many healthy spouses experience that they get their wife/husband back and together we feel when care is the best medicine.

A meaningful everyday life

Who doesn't like to start a quiet morning with a warm bath followed by a fragrant breakfast? With the help of Private Health, our nurses make sure to fill the client's days with meaningful and genuine activities that fit the life the person with dementia has lived so far.

Together, the client and private nurse might go for a short walk before lunch and find a cozy spot in nature where they can feel the fresh air and smell the life around them. Later in the day, lunch is prepared together, which heightens all the senses and makes you want to eat. Client and private nurse read and look at pictures, and together they try to refresh old memories and sense the recognizable in everything new the day brings.

Exercise, conversation, and cooking are meaningful and genuine activities, as are natural movement, gymnastics, exercise with numbers and reading aloud. With Private Health at home, it's also possible to relieve the burden on the healthy spouse with the help of our competent and caring nurses.

Subsidies from insurance and pension companies

In special cases, we encourage clients to investigate the possibility of subsidies from Sygesikring Danmark, insurance and pension companies or other related health insurances.

In this connection, Private Health can inform you that in the event of terminal care, Sygesikring Danmark provides an amount of approximately DKK 12,000. In order to receive this benefit, various declarations must be obtained from the doctor/hospital. Private Health is happy to assist in obtaining these. In all cases, we recommend that clients and/or relatives contact the relevant organizations for further information.

We've received some nice words along the way

Over the past year, Private Health has provided outstanding care for our aging mother with nurses, personal assistants, and physical therapists. With deep professionalism and great human warmth, they have created security and comfort in her everyday life. In addition to all the health care, Private Health also ensures that the home is always kept tidy, that it is aired out, that there are fresh flowers on the table, and that meals are prepared with care and respect for our mother's wishes.

After falling and breaking her elbow earlier this year, they retrained her with determination, so that she is now stronger and more mobile than before. And perhaps even more importantly, they have rekindled her zest for life. Our mother now enjoys going for walks, visiting museums, and meeting up with friends—always with Private Health as her loving support.

My siblings and I are not always able to be there for our mother. That's why it's wonderful to know that we can always count on the dedicated, professional, and caring staff at Private Health—a company with a lot of warmth and soul—thank you!

We have been using Private Health for more than 8 months with great pleasure and satisfaction.

We have nothing but praise for the care, professionalism, and tireless problem-solving we have encountered throughout this period.

Regardless of the duration and content of the assignment, Private Health has accommodated our requests—even during the many urgent needs we have had during this period.

Every time, we have received prompt responses, suggested solutions, and kind and patient colleagues who have been very supportive of our sick mother and our challenged father.

We highly recommend Private Health—they have been the main reason why we, as relatives, have been able to get through a very difficult period.

Family in Hørsholm

I sought home care for my father during a vacation in Mols. Private Health found a local home caregiver within a few days who provided care for my father. Very professional and highly efficient service. They went to great lengths to find a solution for us in an area they do not normally serve. A pleasure and highly recommended.

When our father became terminally ill, he wanted to spend his last days at home and we struggled to get public assistance, but ran into long waiting times and summer vacation.

Private Health and the entire team were our salvation! In just a few days they set up absolutely amazing help and support with visits and care every day and were incredibly flexible in quickly adapting care as the disease progressed.

Thanks to Private Health and the amazing and highly professional nurses, our father got the end of life he wanted.

Family in Nærum

After the death of our father, it was difficult for our mother to be on her own a lot and we couldn't cover visiting her every day ourselves. Therefore, it was a great support that Private Health was able to help with 2-3 weekly visits to our mother for a few months at very short notice.

Pleasant visits, chatting and short walks gradually helped her through the first difficult time".
